THIS IS HOW EXCITING THE ENERGY FUTURE COULD BE
The third cycle of the Young Energy Professionals (YEP) program started on February 4 with the formation of the groups (read more here). Over the next two years, more than 50 participants from all areas of energy economics, politics and research will write a report on their vision of an energy future on a specific topic. At the kick-off event, 7 groups were formed:
- Climate neutrality – 100% renewables
- Oil and gas sector in transition
- Energy efficiency as a market opportunity
- Green hydrogen – decarbonization of industry
- Digitalization in the energy industry
- Innovation barriers in the energy sector
- Business models beyond pure energy supply
At the pitch event on April 7, the individual working groups were given the opportunity to present the scope of their work to the Board in a 5-minute pitch. This was followed by a 10-minute discussion to address any questions from the audience. In advance, the YEPs had already expressed preferences as to which Board members they would like to have as mentors. After the pitch event, board members will let the office of World Energy Council Austria know which groups they would like to mentor. Based on these preferences, 1-2 mentors will be assigned to each of the working groups. The abstracts for each group are available for download. You can also find a recording of the event here. WEC Austria wishes the YEP good luck in their work on the future project!
