Embassy Energy Talk in the Canadian Embassy: The role of Canada in the European Energy Transition

Recently, we had the great privilege of being hosted by H.E. Troy Lulashnyk, Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, for our most recent Embassy Energy Talk. Co-hosted by Dr. Michael Strugl, MBA, President of the World Energy Council Austria and CEO of Verbund AG, we gathered a distinguished group of leading energy experts and management professionals from the Austrian energy industry.
Under the theme “Canada’s Role in the European Energy Transition” we explored synergies and opportunities for cooperation between Austria, the EU-27, and Canada. Canada has always been a reliable partner for the EU—not only due to its vast natural resources but especially because of a shared commitment to democratic values and human rights. Together, these factors position Canada as a key strategic partner in making the European energy transition possible. In particular, hydrogen is the specific energy carrier where both countries see significant opportunities for collaboration.
The event featured four distinguished speakers, each covering hydrogen and the energy transition from their unique perspectives and experiences:
